In 1989 Emma began producing and performing solo works for two reasons: to nurture artistic growth by supplying creative opportunities as well as income and to create her vision of the ultimate theatrical experience: healing. Her company Be Well Productions currently tours throughout the Northeast with three productions: The Belle of Amherst by William Luce, based on the life of Emily Dickinson; I.C.U. - Improv Comedy Unit (where laughter is the best medicine!), a solo character and improvisation comedy; and Live From the Milky Way...It's Gilda Radner!, which recently won the Warner Center for the Arts (Torrington, CT) One Act Play contest and is headed for a full production Off-Broadway. In 1990, Emma banded together with other female solo theater artists to create Cosmic Leopard Productions and Womenkind. She has been seen Off-Broadway in Nighthawks, Born in the R.S.A., Montage andThe Rimers of Eldritch. Regionally she has appeared at the Indiana Repertory Theatre, American Stage Festival (NH), Berkshire Public Theatre and Centennial Theatre Festival (CT). Emma holds a B.F.A. from Emerson College and is a member of Actor's Equity Association, AFTRA and SAG, as well as the Dramatists Guild. Go to top

Sima Brason returns for a third year as associate producer of the Womenkind Festival. As an actress she recently completed a run of Sexual Psychobabble at Theatre for the New City. Other credits include numerous films and children's theater. She received her BFA in Directing from Emerson College and has spent seasons at the Walnut Street Theatre and American Stage Festival. Sima is a founding member of the Emerging Artists Theatre Company. Go to top

This is Karen's second venture into the world of producing. Her first was the critically acclaimed Tom & Viv presented by Prufrock Productions at the 1010 Theatre. Karen has acted regionally and here in New York. Highlights include the Shakespeare Theatre in Washington, D.C., Indiana Repertory Theatre and the Resident Acting Company at Cornell University. Karen also played the roll of Mirabel in the movie Modern Love directed by Robby Benson. Most recently Karen played Jane Austen in "Innocent Diversions and she has won praise from the New York Times for her performance as Fabienne in the Kings County Shakespeare Company's production of Twelfth Night directed by K. G. Wilson. Her play "Love Arm'd, Aphra Behn & Her Pen" about Restoration Playwright Aphra Behn, was developed over several years at the Womenkind Festival and is currently touring universities in New York and New Jersey. Laurie is a theatre manager who has worked at the American Repertory Theatre, Goodspeed Opera House, The Rushmore Festival, the City Center and the University of Evansville Theater. Currently she is the Box Office Manager for Classic Stage Company and a freelance consultant for independent projects. Go to top

Tricia is thrilled to be a part of WOMENKIND VI and to be here in New York City. She recently moved to NYC from Cincinnati, where she produced such award-winning shows as Belles, The Boys Next Door, and The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe. Her favorite stage managing credits include Groucho: A Life in Revue, Daddy's Dyin,' Who's Got the Will?, and The Real Thing. She has also had a great time chairing props, dressing, and assistant directing a number of productions. Tricia served as the Vice-President, Production for Mariemont Players, Inc. for two years and as Secretary for one. Prior to moving to New York, Tricia worked most recently for the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra and was the Subscription Manager for the Symphony, Pops, and May Festival seasons. Prior to CSO, she worked for the Cincinnati Playhouse over a span of seven years. A graduate of the University of Evansville's Theatre Management Program, Tricia now works for Plays for Living and volunteers for GMHC. Go to top

Marcy Lovitch. Actress, singer and playwright, appearing for the second year at Womenkind, she has performed her solo pieces at Surf Reality, GuidePost Theatre Company and the Womanspeak Festival. Acting credits include EST's Octoberfest '96, Baca Downtown, and Serious Fish Productions. As a playwright, her plays have been produced at Ensemble Studio Theatre, Pelican Theatre, and Amuse America. She is currently working on a screenplay and is a member of the Dramatists Guild. Brian spends his days as the Production Manager for Plays for Living, producing short dramas on social issues. When not working with Womenkind, Brian has worked with: Glimmerglass Opera, The Hangar Theatre, Coyote Theatre, Shea's Buffalo Center for the Performing Arts, New York Dance Ensemble, Mint Theater, One Dream Theater, Chain Lighting Theater and The King's Head Theatre, London. Brian is honored to be working with so many talented women in one location.

Mary Ann is happy to be back for her fifth Womenkind Festival. She designs for a variety of productions including Opera, Drama, Dance and a Theatricalized Classical Concert Series. Some recent designs include A Perfect Ganesh at TheaterWorks, Hartford; Falsettos at Rider University and For Play at 29th Street Rep. Mary Ann has been involved with exhibition lighting at the Guggenheim Museum for several years. She graduated from M.G.S.A. at Rutgers.

Beth's credits include Broadway: The Lion King, A Christmas Carol, Patti LuPone on Broadway; Off-Broadway: Entertaining Mr. Sloane (Classic Stage Company); Additional credits include the Hangar Theatre (Senior Production Stge Manager), The Juilliard School, Playwrights Horizons Studio, and The Virginia Shakespeare Festival.
